Time is moving on so quickly this year, or is that just me? I don’t seem to have blinked and six months has flown past. Although I don’t want to labour on about Covid, it seems that the vaccinations are helping so much, hopefully we will return to some sort of normality in the not too distant future. Which brings me to the decision that for the foreseeable future I will continue as Click and Collect service, the shop is too small to socially distance and it would mean queues outside, fine in the warm weather but not when it’s raining. I want to thank all of you who have continued with me and I will endeavour to keep providing the best quality locally grown or home grown produce for you. I am now planning a stall outside the shop with additional goodies for you to buy too. We currently have online and extra New Forest strawberries, raspberries, soon cherries and blueberries all locally grown. Soon we will be selling our homegrown garlic, cucumbers, more lettuce, tomatoes, sweet corn, courgettes, runner and french beans not necessarily in that order but all planted and growing.
I have been busy and along with some good friends have managed to start tidying up the farm a little which has been very enjoyable, but lots more to do yet! I have now opened the static caravan as an Airbnb, a completely new concept but proving very popular. The next project will be the pop up tea room planned for July and August dependent on weather of course. The autumn will see an orchard being planted with fruit trees, helpers will be much appreciated come the day. We are also looking for another person to join our team in the bakery on a part time basis, if anyone is interested or know of anyone ask them to please give me a call 07786697919.
In the meantime we have had a litter of pigs born 3 weeks ago and a calf born one week ago a little heifer (girl). The shearing has been completed and happy sheep are now down in the crossroads field along with my calves in more grass that they can eat! With less animals to feed at the moment I have been lucky to have a little more time for gardening and yesterday care of Gemma Hirst drove my first steam engine, what fun that was!
Finally I would like to thank you all for your support and patience and look forward to the future and journey we take together.
